Total Canada understands its activities have an impact on the communities and the environment in which we operate. We work to balance economic, environmental and social objectives to support sustainable development for the company, local communities and the environment.
Our corporate social responsibility is built on transparency, accountability, dependability, stakeholder dialogue and integrity.
We have developed procedures to govern the relationship with our company, our local communities and the environment. These procedures inform our stakeholders of how we assess every aspect of doing business.

Working with the Community
Total Canada's operations in the Athabasca region of northern Alberta are near several First Nations communities. As part of our Joslyn Lease development plan, we implemented a comprehensive consultation strategy to engage and partner with local First Nations communities.
Total Canada is working hard to ensure our community consultations are clear, transparent and accessible. We know that hearing and understanding the local perspective is key to building successful relationships.
We have addressed issues of employment and business opportunity, safety, traffic, housing, infrastructure, education, and emergency preparedness. We have listened and will continue to listen to the community leaders about environmental concerns, including air and water quality, wildlife, and ecosystem health.
Investing in our Communities
Total Canada believes in investing in the communities in which we operate. This part of our dedication to being a good neighbour. Whether in business, or in community involvement, our focus is on investing in the future, including capacity building and education.
We are proud to invest in Keyano College’s new Sport and Wellness Centre in Fort McMurray in support of a healthier student population. We have also committed funding towards education initiatives and community events in Fort McKay.
