Corporate Social Responsibility in Action

Total E&P Canada Ltd. understands that our activities have an impact on the communities and the environment in which we operate. Our commitment is to work to balance our economic, environmental and social dimensions to support the development of a sustainable future for our company, our local communities and the environment in which we work.

World Class Standards

At Total, ensuring that we meet or exceed world class standards in all that we do is important to us, and it is a hallmark of our company activities worldwide. Since 2005, we have been deploying the ISO 14001-compliant environmental management system (EMS) at each of our main production sites where appropriate, including at our Dalia project in Angola.

We are also working to improve the quality of our environmental reporting processes and have been working with third party consultants to ensure best practices in corporate social responsibility.

At Total E&P Canada, we will adopt these same quality standards for our projects, working with our stakeholders and various agencies to achieve our mutual goals of environmentally responsible development.

Pursuing the ISO 14001 Certification Process

Bringing our environmental management system (EMS) in line with the international ISO 14001 standard is a pillar in our deployment of a comprehensive policy to achieve continuous improvement. This widely recognized set of guidelines and requirements gives diverse professional disciplines a common language and makes it easier to identify areas for improvement, such as dialogue with our external stakeholders, and thereby serves as a tool for motivating employees.

Our goal is to obtain ISO 14001 certification for all of our environmentally sensitive sites. But we are not stopping there: more than 200 other sites not classified as environmentally sensitive have already been certified or are involved in a similar process.

Governing Relationships

Working closely with our stakeholders, Total E&P Canada Ltd. is dedicated to the betterment of the communities in which we operate. Total has developed procedures to govern the relationships with our company, our local communities and the environment.

These procedures inform our stakeholders how we assess every aspect of doing business.
